Safeguarding
We create lessons for children to learn in an environment and manner that suits them and provide separate adult lessons that are geared to developing their skiing ability. We are commited to the continued development of our coaches and instructors to ensure that we can provide the best possible conditions for all of our skiers to develop their abilities in a safe, effective and friendly environment.
Our instructors, coaches and other volunteers dedicate their skills, experience, and time to encourage and develop all our skiers.
Statement of Care
Pendle Ski Club accepts that all children, young people and adults have the following basic rights:
- to be valued as a person.
- to be treated with dignity and respect.
- to be cared for as a young person.
- to be kept safe.
Pendle Ski Club will provide training in which all members feel safe and cared for, valued, and treated with dignity and respect.
Pendle Ski Club will provide a duty of care to protect each young person from abuse.
What Club Welfare Officers Do
Pendle Ski Club is fully committed to safeguarding the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk who ski with the club.
The Club Welfare Officer role is to oversee the Safeguarding and welfare of all our members, and to be a first point of contact to discuss any concerns. If you see me at the Club, usually wearing a green bib, I’m always available to discuss any concerns that you have and any members, parents, carers, athletes, or coaches who wish to raise a matter of concern may do so knowing that I shall deal with it sensitively, confidentially, discreetly and with honesty of purpose. You can always of course just come and say Hi!
As a Committee member I attend the meetings and advise on Safeguarding matters, put in place procedures to deal with concerns and promote good safeguarding practices throughout the club. My role is to ensure all policies and procedures are in place and adhered to, including Snowsport England’s Snowsafe Policy and that Codes of Conduct for Parents, Carers, Athletes, Coaches and Volunteers are followed.
If you wish to approach me outside of the club environment, you can email me confidentially at welfare@pendleskiclub.org
