NORTH WEST SKI FEDERATION
OF SNOWSPORT ENGLAND
Saturday 26th May saw Pendle play host to the North West Ski Federation annual schools race – this event is open to all U 19’s who attend full time education in the North West Area.
The event was well supported with 94 racers from schools throughout the North West taking part, and enjoying fantastic sunny dry conditions with a gentle breeze.
The morning session was open practice through the course unlike Club National events from 9.00, with the event then starting promptly at 10.10 for the first of the two timed runs.
Competitors competed on an individual basis – best time to count, with these times then used to calculate a schools overall position based on a team of 3 or 4 – best three times to count.
After the timed runs and in a change to the previous years event format there was open practice for head to head courses, and competitors were split in to mixed ability head to head teams for a knock out event whilst results for the morning competition were collated.
The afternoon saw some very close competitive racing supported by the many parents and teachers on hand until the field was down to the last two, teams and a final victor.
Prize giving followed and everyone left by around 2.30 after a fun days racing in the sunshine.
